While the ZX870 raised the bar and set a new standard, the ZX250-5 surpassed it with superb attention to detail. Hitachi Zaxis ZX250LCN-5 Crawler Excavator by TMCScaleModels The cab interior is almost realistic with all aspects modeled, from the safety cut-off lever and joystick integrated into the armrests, to the foot controls, side display with decorated surface and metal rail lock inside the cab.

The opening doors have small printed labels with an internal catch bar for true realism. The engine cover can be lifted to reveal the internal engine and cooling components, which are authentically painted with safety grilles with photo-etched images. The upper engine case has inset photo-etched plates with a textured non-slip surface that look great and the counterweight has small safety markings printed on it. The hydraulic piping fitted to the model is very nicely done, with all rigid piping lifted from the boom with silver coupling valves and flexible hoses mounted on hydraulic cylinders that are very smooth running with enough friction to hold any chosen position. An armored hose was also added along with an auxiliary feeder for attachments.

Another nice feature is the removable bucket that allows you to mount aftermarket accessories. The undercarriage frame has tensioned idler wheels that keep the connected belts taut with a nice smooth rolling motion. Surface detail is good with internal structural frame detail and printed markings. Paintwork is to a very high standard with the Hitachi branding and machine markings crisply printed, finished off with small safety decals on the rear counterweight and bar. Excellent replica of the hydraulic pipe and armored flexible hoses.
