In late 2022, Boeing delivered the first of two new 747-8 freighters to Atlas Air and its longtime charter customer, cargo giant Kuehne+Nagel. The two 747s, named 'Inspire' and 'Empower', will expand the logistics company's trans-Pacific network and enable better logistics connectivity within the growing Asia-Pacific region. Although the aircraft will surely serve for decades to come, the delivery of these two aircraft also marks the end of production of the "Queen of the Skies", which has lasted more than half a century since entering service in 1970.
