A police handler is a police officer who is specially designated and trained to lead a police service dog. The police handler uses commands to instruct the police dog to perform various actions as required by police intervention.

The Public Security (abbreviated VB, Czech: Veřejná bezpečnost, abbreviated VB) was a uniformed branch of the National Security Corps that performed the role of the police in Czechoslovakia between 1947 and 1991, i.e. mainly during the totalitarian rule of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia.
