The VAZ-2103 Zhiguli is a luxury compact sedan (small class, passenger car, model 3 in the Soviet classification) manufactured by VAZ, introduced in 1972 and produced until 1984. Better known by its export name Lada 1500 outside its native country of the Soviet Union and popularly nicknamed Troika (Russian: Тройка, lit. “three”) in the domestic market. The car was jointly developed by VAZ and FIAT at the same time as the Fiat 124 Special, and both models had the same basis and influenced each other. The 2103 was produced under license and adapted for the Soviet and Eastern European markets. Externally, the 2103 differs from its predecessor VAZ-2101 primarily in its four, that is, double sets of headlights, different grilles and direction indicators, moldings on the sides of the body and larger taillights.
