Product description
High-quality metal model of the Boeing 737-112 in Air Florida / Singapore Airlines colors. The model is delivered in a cardboard box with a metal stand and landing gear.
The aircraft with the production number 19768 and serial number 184 was originally delivered in July 1969 to Malaysia–Singapore Airlines, and after the separation of the airlines in 1972 it passed into the ownership of Singapore Airlines under the registration 9V-BFD. During this phase it flew in the classic two-tone Singapore Airlines paint with a yellow strip and a dark blue tail with the iconic "silver kris" logo.
In the late 1970s the aircraft reached the United States, where it was acquired by the expanding low-cost airline Air Florida in October 1979. It was assigned the American registration N46AF. At the time, Air Florida was rapidly expanding its fleet and took over the aircraft without significant changes to the exterior, retaining most of its original Singapore Airlines livery. This hybrid look, combining Asian design with American registration, gave it a unique character that is preserved in several period photographs, especially from Miami International Airport.
After a short service with Air Florida, the aircraft was sold to Panamanian company COPA Airlines in August 1980, where it flew under the registrations HP-870 and later HP-873CMP. There it served in regular scheduled service for over a decade, until it was finally retired in November 1993 after an accident at Panama City Airport.
