The 737-300 was the new base model of the second generation Boeing 737, longer and larger than its predecessors the Boeing 737-100/-200. The second generation of the Boeing 737 also received new CFM brand engines (model 56). These were the most radical changes from the -100/-200 versions. The Boeing 737-300 has a capacity of 128 passengers in a standard, two-class configuration. The maximum capacity is 148 passengers. A total of 1104 machines of the -300 model were ordered.
