To highlight its goal of achieving 100% green manufacturing by 2050 and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 100% within that timeframe, United Airlines has painted one of its newest 787-9 Dreamliners in a special color scheme. Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is a low-carbon alternative to conventional jet fuel that can be used to power aircraft without the need for significant modifications. By using SAF, United Airlines can reduce emissions by up to 85%. Model N24988, due for delivery in November 2024, is part of a large order for more than 100 Dreamliners to replace the Star Alliance member’s aging fleet of Boeing 767 aircraft.
