The Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II is a modern fifth-generation multi-role fighter aircraft system, developed for supersonic flight, stealth technology and network-oriented combat operations. The F-35A version is a conventionally take-off and landing variant intended for the air forces. Denmark has ordered 27 of this type as a replacement for older F-16s, with the first machines arriving in 2023. The L-007 machine is among the first four F-35s delivered to Danish soil. Danish F-35s have a specific marking modification that is less conspicuous, but is still easily identifiable during international missions thanks to the red and light gray markings.
