The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle is an American twin-engine all-weather fighter aircraft developed by McDonnell Douglas. It was primarily designed to gain air supremacy, but can also destroy ground targets if necessary. The first F-15s were included in the US Air Force in 1976 and were to be replaced by the 5th generation F-22 Raptor fighters in the first decade of the 21st century. Given that Raptor aircraft were not produced in the required quantities, F-15 fighters will definitely be replaced by F-35s.
