Quality metal model of the Rockwell B-1B USAF military aircraft in the Doolittle Raid 80th Anniversary. The model is detailed and precisely processed according to the real machine. This is a pre-order, planned stocking is December 2023. The photo is only illustrative.
On April 18, 1942, 16 untested B-25 Mitchell bombers under the command of Lt. Col. James Doolittle took off from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet in a daring operation to bomb the capital of the Empire of Japan. Damage to military and industrial targets in Tokyo itself was minor, but US morale received a major boost, while Japan's belief in its own invulnerability was hit hard. To commemorate this risky feat, this B-1 Lancer of the 34th Squadron from Ellsworth, South Dakota received a special paint job on its tail. On one side is a picture of the B-25 Mitchell that was used to carry out the surprise attack 80 years ago, and on the other side are the squadron emblems of the crews involved at the time.
