The Lockheed S-3B Viking was a jet aircraft developed for the United States Navy primarily for anti-submarine warfare, maritime surveillance and aerial refueling. The aircraft, BuNo 159743, operated by the VS-24 "Scouts" squadron, carried a special "Eye of the Storm" nose insignia during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. The S-3B variant featured improved avionics and improved mission systems compared to the previous S-3A version.
