The Škoda 1203 is a utility vehicle that began production in Vrchlabí in the Czech Republic in 1968. Five years later, part of the production was moved to Trnava, and in 1981 the entire production - under the name Škoda TAZ and later TAZ 1500. At the plant in Vrchlabí, it was produced in 1968-1981 69,727 units. The first prototype under the designation Š 979, which differed in body design, was built in the spring of 1957, this prototype was powered by an engine from Škoda 1201. In cooperation with ČZ Strakonice, the Š 998 agricultural vehicle was to be built on the Š 1203 chassis in the manner of the German Unimog, completely however, only 23 examples were produced. Production in Trnava was only stopped in 1999 due to sales difficulties for these already very outdated cars. After 1999, the small Czech company Ocelot continued to produce this "immortal" car (on order).
