Product description
High-quality, precisely crafted model of the CSA Czechoslovak Airlines Tupolev TU-154M - "Teplice".
The popular Soviet-designed workhorse entered service with the then Czechoslovak ČSA in 1988. The TU-154's high performance and robust construction made it popular with its crews and suitable for operation from shorter or less equipped airports. A total of seven of these three-propeller aircraft were used mainly on European and some Middle Eastern routes from Prague, replacing older turboprop types such as the Ilyushin IL-18. OK-TCC is named after Teplice, a popular spa town in the northwestern corner of what is now the Czech Republic, whose oldest records of the use of thermal mineral springs date back to 1154. As noise, emissions and efficiency standards became stricter and Western twin-propeller jets became more affordable, CSA gradually phased out its TU-154s in favor of Western types by 1999. Several of these aircraft were sold and used by other airlines or governments. OK-TCC was originally sold to China United Airlines, which was at the time founded as a commercial airline by the People's Liberation Army Air Force, and was later transferred to the 102nd Aviation Regiment in Beijing, where it remained active until the early 2000s. A display stand is included.
