Product description
High-quality metal model of the Volkswagen Scirocco Riegeer GTO from 1980 in a detailed design according to the real model. The model is packed on a base in a paper box.
The Volkswagen Scirocco was a sports model of the Volkswagen automobile company. It followed the Karmann-Ghia model and was produced in two generations. It was replaced by the Corrado model. Its production began in 1974 and ended in 1992. In 2008, the production of the sports model under the same name was resumed and lasted until 2017.
The production of the first generation took place from 1974 to 1981 in the city of Osnabrück in Germany. A total of 504,153 units were produced. The Scirocco differed from its predecessor in having front-wheel drive. The design of the vehicle was created by Giorgio Giugiaro. The car was structurally based on the Golf model. Unlike the Karmann-Ghia model, production was carried out in a factory. In 1975, it was also sold in the United States. It was available with four-cylinder engines with a displacement of 1.1 to 1.6 liters (1.7 in the United States). Over time, it underwent various design changes. Several limited editions were also produced - "Sidewinder", "Sidewinder II", "Champagne Edition", "Champagne Edition II" and the "S" version. The Champagne edition II had only black accessories. The S version was, for a change, available in only three colors in 1980: Alpine white, black and Mars red with accessories in the same color. In 1981, additional colors appeared on the S version: Cosmos silver metallic, Cirrus gray metallic and Mars Red red, no longer with unified accessories. In 1978, the Scirocco starred in the film Dawn of the Dead.
