Product description
A high-quality metal model of the Yakovlev Yak-40 aircraft operated by the Republic of Poland. The model is crafted with precision and attention to detail, faithfully replicating the actual aircraft. It comes packaged in a cardboard box. The image is for illustrative purposes only.
Starting in 1973, the Polish Air Force took delivery of the first of 19 of these small Soviet tri-jet aircraft. They were primarily used to transport government officials and VIPs, typically featuring a VIP cabin configuration with only 13 seats, as opposed to the 32 seats standard in commercial service. In the 1990s, the squadron operated by the 36th Special Aviation Transport Regiment—based at Warsaw-Okęcie—adopted a red-and-white livery that became the standard for the government fleet. After more than three decades of service, the Yak-40 with serial number 044 was retired in 2011 and is currently on display at the Museum of Polish Military Technology (Muzeum Polskiej Techniki Wojskowej) in Warsaw.
