Product description

F-14A Tomcat USN VF-32 Swordsmen, AC207, USS John F. Kennedy, Gulf of Sidra, January 4th 1989

The Northrop Grumman’s F-14 Tomcat® is a supersonic, twin-engine, two-seat, variable-sweep wing fighter aircraft.  The F-14 Tomcat® was designed as both an air superiority fighter and a long-range naval interceptor.  It features variable geometry wings that swing automatically during flight. For high-speed intercept, they are swept back and they swing forward for lower speed flight.

The F-14 had its first kills in U.S. Navy service, on 19 August 1981 over the Gulf of Sidra in what is known as the Gulf of Sidra incident.  The second Gulf of Sidra incident occurred on 4 January 1989 when two U.S. Navy F-14 Tomcats shot down two Libyan MiG-23 Floggers that appeared to have been attempting to engage them.
