Product description
High-quality metal model of the Ilyushin IL-62M civil aircraft from Aeroflot. The model is detailed according to the real aircraft model.
The Ilyushin Il-62 was the first four-engine long-haul passenger aircraft designed and built in the Soviet Union. It allowed Aeroflot to serve destinations in Africa, Asia and even North America non-stop from Moscow - a significant improvement over older, less capable aircraft such as the Tupolev Tu-114. From the 1960s to the 1990s, the Il-62 was Aeroflot's main long-haul aircraft type, and was also used by other socialist airlines (including Interflug, CSA and LOT). Of the 295 Ilyushin Il-62s produced, a remarkable 213 flew for Aeroflot. It remained in service for over 40 years - a testament to its robustness and reliability. The last Aeroflot Il-62M was retired in 2005. This IL-62 model also has a removable support wheel, which provided stability during loading and unloading of the IL-62, which was prone to tipping over due to its rear-mounted engines. A display stand is also included.
The model is packaged in a blister in a cardboard box.
