The Sukhoi Su-27 is a single-seat, twin-engine fighter aircraft of the 4th generation developed in the Soviet Union in the 1970s. It can operate at all flight altitudes and, thanks to its long range, can also perform patrol operations. It was created on the basis of a joint project led by the Sukhoi Aircraft Design Bureau OKB and the Archip Mikhailovich Luľka Aircraft Engine Design Bureau. Many aircraft companies from all over the Soviet Union were also involved in the project, which ensured the introduction of the know-how of the entire Soviet aviation industry. The Sukhoi Su-27 is the founder of a whole family of multi-role fighters, one of which was the first Soviet fighter to make a classic landing on an aircraft carrier. The Sukhoi Su-27 is a direct counterpart to the American F-15 Eagle fighter.
