Tu-154M version with Solovjov D-30KU-154 engines, rebuilt tail surfaces, enlarged spoilers and altered passenger cabin. The Tu-154M aircraft thus has a much lower fuel consumption, a longer range and reduced operating costs. The Tu-154M first flew in 1982 and entered mass production in 1984. Aeroflot put the Tu-154M into service in December 1984, followed by other companies. Mass production ended in 2006, but limited production continued until January 2009. Around 320 aircraft were produced.
